Self-Care, YOUR VIBRATIONS Vol. 2, No. 1 - 1.08

Hello!

As may be the case for many families, these days have been very busy for mine. Not only did we have to count on the usual causes of stress, we also took a long trip on a train and had our house painted. I arrived home exhausted, with the task of putting things in order awaiting me. I don't have to say that I was feeling more tired and sensitive than usual.

When this happens, I have to give myself credit for recognizing how I am feeling BEFORE becoming a nervous wreck or exploding over any small matter. My ideal is to be creative enough to find in each difficult situation, in each challenge, whatever it may be, an opportunity to recognize a hidden blessing, to learn something, to develop spiritually.

As I said, it is my ideal. Still, if I manage to recharge my batteries and stabilize the energies around me soon enough, it is much easier to approach the ideal. That requires some self-care. Especially if we are women, I think we have been taught to care for everyone else, but we are on the bottom of the list of priorities. Life has managed to teach me the lesson that Mrs. Takata, the mother of Western Reiki, taught her Reiki pupils: care for yourself first so that you can care for others.

In energetic terms, physics has shown that energetic vibrations tend to synchronize to the highest vibration. That means that, if my vibrations are very high, I can help the people and the situations around me raise their vibrations.

In times of greater activity, when we are more sensitive and less patient, it is very important that we care for ourselves. It is at those times that I need to be sensible enough to focus for a moment on myself. I might do a visualization where I am on the beach in El Chocó (Colombia). Maybe I will only give myself a few minutes to read a chapter in a novel, or some inspiring poems. There are days on which the best thing is to take a nap, others where I prefer a short walk through the neighborhood. If the situation is really bad, I might start crocheting something or invite a friend for hot chocolate.

Everyone has their own way of caring for themselves, of feeling that they are giving themselves a gift. What matters is not so much what I do, but that I feel I am indulging myself, that the gift I am giving myself is special. Then, my vibrations become higher and I feel much better, more prepared for what awaits me, more capable of enjoying it and of finding the hidden blessing or the lesson.

Naturally, Reiki is the first tool that I use to strengthen myself, relax, and prepare for the challenges before me. I always advocate for daily self-treatments, but I admit that there are days when I don't do them, and if I do, an “emergency” treatment is still a good idea, whether I do it myself or I get it from someone else.

I would like this to be an invitation for you to ask yourself: How can you indulge yourself when you need it? What gift can you give yourself today? Caring for yourself, instead of being a form of selfishness is an investment in yourself, in the people that you love and those who are around you every day. If you can raise the vibrations of the people around you, then self-care is another way to make the world a better place!

Wishing you joy and peace,
Andrea
