Nature, YOUR VIBRATIONS Vol. 2, No. 8 - 8.08.08 Hello!
I have always had a special affinity for nature. As a child, I loved getting away from people to go sit in the middle of the forest or in a field and just BE. When I was sad about something, lying on the ground and feeling the damp warmth of it was enough to fill me with new feelings of peace. It is very similar to how a Reiki session feels to me, after a lot of stress. Nature, pardon the redundancy, is a natural source of healing for people. But the life that most of us live in this day and age separates us from it and leads us to believe that we are not an actual part of it. I was a lucky child, I had easy access to nature on our farm. Nowadays, living in this land of harsh winters, in the city, I have to remind myself that I need contact with nature in order to support the balance and serenity I seek in my daily life. I have to remember the profound and transforming wisdom that I can find when I am looking for it “out there,” in the prairie, by the lake, looking up into a tree or down into a flower. May you find peace and joy in your own forays into Nature, in the park down the street, or far away on the restful beaches of the South Seas! If you live in the Chicago area, join me in finding wisdom and answers to your specific questions through Nature during our next Connections meeting on August 8th, see the Calendar below for the details. “NATURE” IS WHAT WE SEEBy Emily Dickinson “Nature” is what we see– EPIRRHEMABy Goethe (translated by Michael Hamburger) Always in observing nature True seeming is the joy it gives, A NEW PERSPECTIVEWhen we are living a situation that feels overwhelming, Nature provides many tools to help alleviate it. One very useful one is to teach us to shift the perspective from which we are viewing things. This exercise can help you do that. Find a place in Nature that feels inspiring and peaceful, this could be anywhere from your garden to a public beach. Make yourself comfortable there and breathe deeply, letting your consciousness arrive fully at this place. If you have Reiki, activate the energy and channel it into your solar plexus, if you have Reiki II, use the CKR and SHK symbols. (If you don’t have Reiki, you can learn here). Notice the large elements around you: how the sky looks, where the horizon lies, what texture the surface you are sitting on has. Now notice the very tiny elements: if you are near flowers, look at the pistil and pollen of one of them, look at a few grains of sand in the palm of your hand, notice any insects around you. When you are fully present and aware of the place you are in, look around once more and choose an element from the landscape before you that calls your attention. Maybe it is a branch that is swaying on its trunk, perhaps it is the ant that just crawled over your foot. Now let your imagination take you into the shape of this element. Let yourself imagine how the world looks from the perspective of that branch or that ant. What would the large features of the landscape be? When you have explored the world around you from this perspective, think about the situation that is holding so much power over your life. How does it look from this perspective? What are some things you have not considered about it? Allow yourself the freedom to delve into the situation from this perspective. Now, bringing your consciousness back into your body, channel Reiki to your third eye and ask yourself what are the gifts that this situation can be bringing you, so that you may acknowledge them and feel gratitude for them. Seeing your situation from an unexpected perspective will help you recognize the gifts, and bring gifts of its own! Go forth now with new freedom and a lighter spirit! About the Author
