What is Reiki?
Below, I will get somewhat technical and share with you the definition of Reiki. That may seem important. But what seems really important to me is that Reiki feels like Love. I understand it as the connection of my own life force energy with the Source energy, and that connection does powerful things! (You can read about that in What is Reiki Good For?) What I think is most powerful is that it returns me to the sense of profound peace that I long for when I am disconnected from it. What I really mean is that it connects me to my True and Authentic Self, the one that knows without a doubt that everything happens for a reason and that my physical life is like a molecule in the vast sea of Creation. So here's the technical part: Reiki is spiritually guided, universal life force energy. The word comes from the Japanese Rei, universal or spiritually guided, and Ki, life force energy. All living beings have life force energy, it is what makes us alive, our personal energy. Reiki is that personal energy, connected to the Creator; it is not a religion, but can deepen your spiritual life. ItÂ’s most powerful and beautiful aspect is that it brings us back to our True Self. Reiki is also a technique through which this universal life force energy is channeled, generally through the hands, to promote relaxation, stimulate self-healing, and revitalize the body, mind and spirit. If our life force energy is low, we are more likely to become ill, and if we are stressed, our personal energy is affected. Reiki balances the body's energies and clears blockages. It adapts to the needs of the receiver and can be used for animals, plants and all beings.Reiki is also a spiritual path. Mikao Usui, who discovered Reiki in the early 20th century, understood it primarily that way. His students in the first levels were dedicated to learning about the energy, and treatment of others was secondary. Usui Sensei (a title given in Japan to teachers as a form of respect) gave his students five ethical and moral principles to guide their lives, he asked that they do daily meditation and work with the energy. He taught that Reiki and its principles were guidelines to invite blessings and to improve the mind and body. Read more Email to schedule a session now!
